    Et in Arcadia Ego

’Et in Arcadia ego’ was painted at Russborough, Co. Wicklow for my exhibition ’Atlantis to Arcadia’ May 2010. It defines Russborough as an ideal landscape.

The paintings for this exhibition were inspired by tales of lost cities, old civilisations and a return to an arcadian world, of peace and harmony with nature

The legendary folk singer Donovan, honoured me by opening the exhibition . He has had a fascination with the story of Atlantis for many years, and he performed his classic song ’Atlantis’. Chris de Burgh played Donovan’s great 60’s hit ’Catch the Wind’, and the Florentine pianist & composer Antonio Breschi performed his ’Ode to Ireland’ on an 18th century piano, and accompanied Donovan on ’Atlantis’.

It was a great combination of art and music in the exquisite setting of an historic house renowned for the Sir Alfred Beit art collection, and also for the two most famous art heists of the twentieth century in Ireland.
